Roberto Tijerina is the son of immigrant workers who grew up in the Coachella Valley. He graduated from College of the Desert with an A.A. in Business Administration and later also obtained a B.A. in Chicano Studies from the University of California, Riverside. He was actively involved in MEChA, Nuestra Cosa Newspaper, Radio Aztlan KUCR 88.3 FM, & the Brown Berets. Roberto continues to give motivational talks, workshops, and speeches to the youth. He encourages the youth to go to school, seek a higher education, as well as the importance of learning their history. He has currently published The MEChA Manual. He enjoys learning, music, playing the guitar, and keeping cultura alive.
